WORK HISTORY
Fellow @Youth Justice Alliance
Austin, TX, US
A nonprofit organization based in Austin, Texas dedicated to providing access to legal knowledge, legal careers, and legal support to historically excluded individuals and communities. Fellows receive a week-long summer institute in Austin, TX during the Summer of 2023, as we attended classes at UT Law conducted by law professors, and participated in networking events with high-profile attorneys, activists, judges, and professors. As a fellow, I observed Travis County Civil Court trials, participated in a civil mock trial and received feedback from local attorneys and judges. Future support includes a judicial internship position during the Summer of 2024, shadowing judges and justices in the Austin area, a non-profit internship during the Summer of 2025, working at a non-profit legal service, and LSAT preparation during the summer of 2026, while also receiving guidance on the law school application process. Applied, reviewed by the YJA board of directors, and accepted among 16 other high school seniors from several school districts, including those in Austin, TX, Dallas, TX, San Antonio, TX, Houston, TX, Del Rio, TX, and Brownsville, TX.
ABOUT MARIO PEREZ
I am a sophomore at the University of Texas and am currently pursuing my bachelors degree in government. I have always been passionate about the law, and strive to someday attend law school and become a criminal defense attorney. I am looking forward to pursuing opportunities in the legal field and creating connections with bright and motivated minds. Holding my experiences, lessons, and insatiable desire to grow, learn, and lead, I work so I may change the world one class, one community, and, someday, one case at a time.
