ABOUT MARILYN BUCKELEW

Even as a child, I gravitated toward problem-solving and patterns — always spotting what didn’t belong. That early instinct for systems and gaps became a career-defining strength: seeing connections, initiating improvements, and building what others didn’t yet imagine. In high school, I took advanced college math and joined the first computer science class ever offered — a leap into emerging tech that shaped a career grounded in innovation, structure, and vision. At Honeywell, I launched the first IT department for the site and became the division’s first Certified Novell Administrator. I designed and implemented the Novell network that connected engineers and accelerated program performance - a pivotal early success that showed me how to lead from the front.Recruited to Sunquest, I refined enterprise integration and healthcare IT skills - improving system workflows, leading large, complex LIS conversions upon hospital M & As, and translating tech into results. I left when the company went public. At Centene, I led z/OS data conversions, coded the first HIPAA-aligned system, and built training programs for cross-functional teams. I again was the connector between departments and the architect behind new enterprise processes. Those skills carried forward to Raytheon, where I integrate IRAD and capital project planning with Agile and Earned Value models. I earned a seat at the table with IRAD leadership (a first) and transformed oversight through real-time cost/schedule tools-slashing planning time by 80% and accelerating innovation. RTX developed 2 320-degree CAVE2 virtual environments, in Az. and Mass, merging real-time interactivity and big data capabilities. I was the first to connect them for enhanced, streamlined collaborative mission planning sessions for UAE. From standing up our first UAE Landed Company to managing global financials for chemical compliance, I bridge technical, financial, and strategic domains. I’m known as an Information Broker: translating big-picture vision into actionable plans and measurable outcomes.I’m especially proud of mentoring the next generation of planners - helping them grow into confident, strategic leaders. Building systems is rewarding, but building people is lasting.Whether rescuing red programs or championing change, I lead with grit, clarity, and a deep belief in mission-driven outcomes.Let’s hear it for the problem-solvers and the challenge-accepters! Let’s connect if you\'re passionate about shaping the future of #DefenseR & D,#InnovationInDefense, or high-impact program execution.
