ABOUT MARCO MELGAR

Lima, 1976) He studied cinematography at The University of Lima and drama at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. He has directed short films, documentaries and theatre plays. In 2003, he won the 1.st Festival of APFACOM for Spiral Time, and in 2006 the 3.rd Audiovisual Competition of PUCP for the short movie Aura. In 2013, he received a scholarship from CINESCOPE. The same year, he shoot the short documentary Yumi - Water is Life, and has been selected to participated in Festival Internacional De Cine Contracorreinte, 6to Festival Iberoamericano Cine Azul – Surrealidades, Sembrando Cine-Peru, Festival Internacional De Cortometrajes Cuzco, V Festival Del Cortometraje Peruano Lambayeque, 9.A Muestra De Cine + Video Indígena, XII Muestra De Cine Social Imagen Del Sur Chile, IX Encuentro Hispanoamericano De Cine Y Video Documental \"Contra El Silencio Todas Las Voces\" DF Mexico, Semifinalist in Creactive International Open Film Festival, Festival De Cine Y Documental Por La Recuperación De Los Bienes Comunitarios, 8º Festival Internacional De Cine Invisible Film Sozialak Bilbao, Vi Festival Internacional De Vídeo Documental Globale Bogotá. In 2014, he wrote and directed Urban Legends - Strange Man and participated in Terror Fest Peru, IV Festival Internacional De Cine Fantástico Y de Terror De Navarra, Phoenix Film Festival Melbourne, 10mo Filmocortos Lima. In 2015, his feature film project Jaguar Woman was selected for the XI coproduction forum of the International Film Festival Guadalajara México and selected for Blood Windows - Fantastic Film Festival of the Latin-American Market Ventana Sur Argentina (created by the INCAA and the Marché du Film / Cannes Film Festival). In 2016, he wrote and directed \"Red Nightmare - Urban Legends\", and has been selected to participated in Los Angeles CineFest, 28 Girona Film Festival, Buenos Aires Rojo Sangre Film Festival, Festival De Cine De Bogotá Colombia, Rewind Horror Film Festival Barcelona, International KısaKes Short Film Festival Turkey, Festival Internacional Cine De Santa Cruz Bolivia, Fiaticorti Film Festival Italy and Obscura Film Festival Berlin. In 2016, won the Best Country Award from Creactive International Open Film Festival USA and best cinematography at The 12 Months Film Festival Rumania. By the end of 2016, he wrote and directed experimental short film Alusiones Punzantes. In 2018, he writed and directed Re-Versión a psychothriller short film.
