ABOUT MARCIN IWANICKI

I launched my career as a full-time special education teacher assistant at Kilmer Center Elementary School (Kilmer) in Vienna, Virginia. While at Kilmer, I attended Community College (NOVA), as a student of English as a Second Language to empower future studies of biology and chemistry. Consequently, I transferred from NOVA into the biology undergraduate program at George Mason University, and after graduation, I studied HIV immunity at the HIV Military Research Program. This research experience motivated me to obtain a Ph.D. in Microbiology at the University of Virginia, where I studied cell migration. Subsequently, I began post-doctoral studies at Harvard Medical School where I inaugurated a research program in ovarian cancer. Currently, I am an Assistant Professor at Stevens Institute of Technology leading biology education and research programs. Throughout my scholarly and creative activities, I trained Ph.D. students, designed, implemented, and led curriculum, obtained NIH, industry, and foundation grants, and served on education committees including a leadership role in the recruitment of master students. I also consistently serve on NIH research and education grant panels.
