ABOUT MARCEL FATOVIC

For as long as I can remember, I have been fascinated by large buildings. I still remember the first time I walked into the Sky Dome as a little kid, I was more excited to see the building’s retractable roof in action than the baseball game I was there to watch. Eventually, my fascination for infrastructure fostered a desire to learn how it was possible to build structures so large and yet so elegant. It became clear that civil engineering needed to be a part of my education and future. It was at Western University that I decided to carry out my passion and it was there that I have had the opportunity to study the fundamentals of structural engineering, design and test reinforced concrete beams, and contribute to real-world construction projects through co-op and volunteer experiences. It was during my second year at Western when my passion for civil engineering evolved into something much more. I was selected for the highly competitive opportunity to combine my civil engineering degree with an HBA from The Ivey Business School. So far, my learning experience at Ivey has expanded the way I think about infrastructure projects tremendously. I’ve adopted a perspective that visualizes infrastructure projects as complex business opportunities that must generate a return. My background in civil engineering and business administration has built a foundation of transferable skills that I hope to expand on when I launch my full-time career in May 2021.
