ABOUT MANDY ARCHIBALD

I am a mixed methods researcher and artist that centres relationality in research, with an eye towards amplifying lived experience in health care. I lead the Amplify Lab at the University of Manitoba - a creative applied methods hub aiming to create change by reframing the way we approach understanding health through research. My passion lies in advancing inclusive, co-designed research that is patient-drive and patient-centric. I specialize in knowledge translation tools that help individuals and families navigate chronic illness in community settings. From interdisciplinary performance to visual exhibitions, my work bridges art and science to provoke new ways of educating, thinking, and understanding. I\'m available as a keynote or invited speaker, workshop facilitator, and consultant for qualitative, mixed methods, and arts-based research initiatives—including evaluation projects. With over 80 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, more than 50 artistic works in circulation, and over 7200 citations, I’ve been recognized nationally and internationally for research innovation and impact. I’m the recipient of 40+ research awards, including the Rh Falconer Emerging Researcher Award in Health Sciences, New Investigator Awards from CIHR-SickKids and Research Manitoba, and recognition as one of Canada’s Top 150 Nurses and Edmonton’s Top 40 Under 40.I’m proud to serve as Associate Editor for both the and the. I also serve on the Board of the Manitoba Medical Services Foundation, and co-lead the PRIME research theme and the ENRICH Illumination Platform (https://enrichyourscience.ca/illumination-program), aimed at cultivating creative thinking for healthy researchers across Canada.
