ABOUT MAHAVIR NAKUM

I began my career as a structural engineer, designing the systems that support long-term care homes, hotels, industrial complexes, and multi-storey residential buildings. I worked on gravity and lateral systems in concrete, steel, wood, and cold-formed steel, and carried projects from drawings through site reviews and construction changes. That foundation taught me how buildings stand, how they age, and where they’re most likely to fail.Since transitioning into forensic engineering in 2023, I’ve investigated more than 300 property claims, including 100+ fire losses and 25+ full rebuilds, ranging from smaller residential impacts to multi-million-dollar industrial fires and blast restorations. My job is to diagnose what went wrong, stabilize what remains, and design practical, code-compliant paths to put the structure back into service.Today, I bring both sides together. I deliver detailed assessments and clear recommendations that move claims forward, emergency shoring and demolition strategies that make sites safe, and permit-ready restoration drawings that contractors can actually build. My opinions are grounded in engineering fundamentals and code research, and my documentation is concise, defensible, and designed to withstand scrutiny in the field and, if necessary, in court.I take buildings apart on paper so they don’t fall apart in real life.
