ABOUT MADELEINE SCOTT-SPENCER

for reel and portfolio I am an artist with over 14 years experience creating dynamic creatures and characters for film as well as being a professional author and instructor for the same time frame. I have been a lead Texture Painter at Weta Digital and a Senior and Lead at DNEG. I have written 4 textbooks on ZBrush which have sold copies worldwide and I teach ZBrush and Creature Design classes at The Gnomon School of Visual Effects. I have given over 50 lectures and workshops across 5 continents. I also produced the 20 hour Gnomon Workshop video training series Intro to ZBrush 2020. I have experience across the VFX pipeline and experience leading teams of artists. I have worked as a concept artist and modeller/texture artist on The Hobbit, The Kid Who Would Be King, Pacific Rim II, and many other films. My responsibilities included designing creatures and characters and carrying them though into a pipeline ready package with ordered topology and texture. I am extremely fluent in ZBrush, Maya, Nuke, and most other major software packages and pipeline processes. I have extensive experience as both a digital artist as well as a traditional sculptor and painter. My education includes the study of figure sculpture at The Florence Academy of Art in Florence, Italy and I undertook 50 hours of cadaver lab studies at The University of Utah Medical School.
