Christian Aid tackles the root causes of poverty and this role involves inspiring and mobilising Christian Aid supporters in Scotland through the creation of campaigning materials and the running of events. The role involves developing key relationships with decision-makers and advocating about issues of justice. Specifically on the topics of climate justice, economic justice and peace in the Middle East:• To engage in advocacy with MPs and MSPs in Scotland through direct engagement and through active participation in coalitions and their activities (e.g, Stop Climate Chaos Scotland and the Scotland International Development Alliance).• To facilitate and support churches and individuals in Scotland to campaign; through writing resources such as supporter briefings and blogs; giving talks; providing training on how to engage with local politicians; facilitating opportunities to meet policy makers and providing one-to-one advise and coaching.• To play a proactive role in the development of UK-wide and Scotland specific campaigns and advocacy, working closely with London-based colleagues.• To build and maintain relationships with Scottish Church denominations and Christian/ interfaith /activist groups in Scotland (e.g, Quakers, Christian Climate Action, Global Justice Now); to organise joint events, campaigns and activism as appropriate.• To co-lead the improvement of internal practices and learning in Scotland as Christian Aid seeks to become an anti-racist and decolonised organisation.
