Supporting Office of Naval Research Electronics Manufacturing team at Navy ManTech, providing sound engineering support and assisting in the evaluation of future projects being considered for funding. Identified a significant vulnerability related to the production of countermeasure flares which involved the sourcing and processing of magnesium. Working with OSD and DLA to evaluate the entire supply chain following the closure of the sole domestic source of magnesium where the most viable vendors for DPA Title funding were identified. Participated on the DoD team which selected the most qualified domestic vendor as the raw magnesium producer to receive funding to help upstart their plans for full-rate production. Visited an internation magnesium producer and identified their facility as the best short-term solution to provide DoD product. Created a Raw Materials Working Group which includes multiple agencies and organizations across DoD (Army, Navy, Space Force, Supply Chain, DCMA, Materials, Reliability and Maintainability, OSD & DLA) to discuss other potential raw material shortfalls, its impact to programs, and mitigation steps to alleviate risk.
