In June 2021 I moved over to the purchasing team at Urban Electric, as a Strategic Sourcing Engineer. I work with our product engineers and new product development team on outsourcing and developing new or updated parts with vendors. I take the part through quoting, negotiations, prototyping, FAI\'s, quality improvements, and first production runs before handing them off to our buying team. In addition, I am the point of contact for all quality issues that may arise on existing parts, and manage the supplier quality team. I provide the technical connection between our engineers, buyers, and our vendors. In addition I continue to maintain all packaging projects and developments. I update our packaging processes and procedures and implement better solutions in order to protect our highly fragile and complex lighting fixtures. While my focus is packaging, I often support additional continuous improvement projects in other areas of production and shipping.I have had experience- Collecting and analyzing quotes- Developing supplier quality standards- Developing new parts with vendors- Working with product engineering to optimize parts for outsourcing- Finding new vendors and improving relationships with current ones- Working with international vendors- Managing supplier quality issues and developing solutions- Working with multiple cross functional teams on various packaging platforms- Providing engineering with feedback on parts to improve manufacturability- Running plant trials- Working with co-packers- Leading the development of new packaging solutions- Creating and implementing multiple packaging specific test plans using ISTA standards- Collecting data using accelerometers- Reporting results with written reports and verbal communication- Interacting with consumer panels- Developing an understanding of specific Sam\'s club, Costco, and Walmart standards- Visiting plants to better understand tooling requirements and issues that can arise with running packaging on the line- Working directly with customers- Managing a quality audit program- Approving packaging plants for safety and quality- Working with production team members to help solve their day to day problems- Managing continuous improvement projects.
