ABOUT LIBBY HEATH-TAVENER
I’m a dedicated and motivated educational leader with a deep-rooted love for language and learning. As Head of Maths & English at Weston College, I lead on class-based, work-based, and adult Maths & English provision —shaping strategy, designing curriculum, and leading a talented team of teachers and managers. My role bridges innovation with impact, ensuring quality education through collaborative leadership and strategic alignment. The work that I do involves learners who are experiencing disadvantage and I love this aspect of my role. I bring a creative, coaching-informed leadership style grounded in my background in staff development, quality management, and executive coaching, with a commitment to professional growth and educational excellence. With an extensive background as a Quality Manager and Professional Learning Coach, I’ve championed staff development, led on teaching and learning excellence, and supported continuous improvement across the college. I bring a reflective, evidence-informed approach to leadership, underpinned by Level 7 qualifications in Advanced Executive Coaching and Leadership and Coaching. I am also a current doctoral candidate in education. As a former English Lecturer and lifelong advocate for creative expression, I write poetry, as well as contributing to academic journals. I have also spoken at the World Education Summit and been a national training deliverer for the ETF. I also find joy in the open road with my self-built camper van. Whether I’m mentoring colleagues or mapping out the future of English provision, I believe in the transformative power of education and creative expression— and in always learning something new.Fun fact: Professor John Hattie helped me to get engaged!
