ABOUT LENNARD HELMERS

As a company expert, Principal Key Expert, in gas turbine performance and modeling, I have opportunity to actively join in the company‘s major development projects, and affect strategic technical decisions. Engaging in Energy System Design, integration of renewable energy and hydrogen production is receiving increasing attention. The project-related work covers all development phases including primary functional choices, conceptual design, detailed design, as well as validation or application in mature product life. A broad range of hands-on experience from airfoil design to integration of engines into large systems or field validation turned out to be very helpful in decision making in early development phases. In this, the careful use and extension of correlation-based methods are a common thread throughout the majority of my career. Launch of new products and technologies in long duration projects, targeting major investments of Siemens‘ customers, requires thorough analysis including development risks and contractual commitments. I have developed underlying methods and processes enabling probabilistic design, and granting a simultaneous business impact. Currently this is being extended to larger Energy Systems. The scope of work requires regular interaction with both technical experts and program or engineering management. I enjoy switching the point of view in these discussions in a global environment either internal, or with external partners, or customers.
