ABOUT LAWITA GERMAINE CHEATHAM-HEMPHILL
Currently one (!) of a team of three (3) investigators managing the Delaware State University (DSU) Parent University Project (ParentU)-an educational research study funded by a $1.6 million dollar grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). As the Program Director, I created and implemented a unique communication plan designed to increase the postsecondary enrollment and persistence of new freshmen pursuing bio-medical degrees at DSU. This research study will test the effectiveness of a familial support intervention designed to help retain undergraduate biomedical majors and motivate them to continue on to a doctoral programs and careers in biomedical research.
