EPA’s Office of Community Revitalization supports locally led, community-driven efforts to expand economic opportunity, protect human health and the environment, and create and enhance the places that people love.The Office of Community Revitalization collaborates with EPA and federal partners; regional, state, and local government; and nongovernmental and private-sector partners to bring resources, investments, and expertise to help communities turn their visions of the future into reality. Assistance is provided at the community’s request on issues such as the reuse and redevelopment of abandoned and underused properties; diversifying economies and revitalizing main streets through local and regional food systems, health care sector, recreation economy, broadband infrastructure investments, and other community assets; disaster recovery and resilience; equitable development, and green infrastructure and community design.In my role, I will:Assist in improving the environment by diversifying economies, especially in distressed, underserved places, from rural small towns to urban neighborhoods. Connect community revitalization smart growth strategies, emerging community wealth building policy innovations and conventional disciplines of community and economic development, public finance, planning, public health, to support development of new technical assistance and research programs. Invigorate Local Foods, Local Places technical assistance program for FY2020 grantees
