Slow Food is an international movement to improve access to good, clean and fair food across the world. When we say “good” we mean both good for you and good tasting; “clean” means it’s free of harmful chemicals and additives; and “fair” means that all who produce it receive a fair price. Since 2006, we have worked to build an Indigenous branch of the organization equal in stature to that of national chapters like Slow Food USA and Slow Food Canada. Through Slow Food Turtle Island, we aim to maintain and promote biodiverse food sources, decrease food deserts and build a community of Indigenous farmers, chefs and other food producers throughout North and South America.As a volunteer with Slow Food, I have-Been a delegate for the Slow Food International during biannual Terra Madre and Salone del Gusto conference in Torino, Italy in 2008, 2014 and 2016-Demonstrated Haudenosaunee boiled cornbread at multiple events-Participated in the 2017 Slow Food Nations conference in Denver, Colorado-Developed a social media and communications strategy -Collaborated with the steering committee to finalize the bylaws for Slow Food Turtle Island in 2023-Currently designing a website for the chapter
