Effectively maintained a student to counselor ratio of 500:1 elementary students ( grades TK-5th). Was directly responsible to school Principal in providing a school counseling program recognizing ASCA’s National Standards Model for School Counseling and Programs, which supports the schools\' overall mission in three core areas: 1. Academic Achievement 2. Career Planning 3. Personal/Social Development. Job responsibilities included but were not limited to- Conducted counseling and learning activities for all students, including grade level SEL classroom lessons and school-wide activities such as Kindness Week, Red Ribbon Week, etc - Developed and implemented a SEL curriculum based on the CASEL competencies and positive character traits- Collaborated with school personnel to assist students in making a smooth transition from one level to another- Assisted in providing prevention and intervention services to include crisis management and site based student services programs- Worked collaboratively with all staff, parents, and agencies for improvement in the three core areas of the ASCA National Standards for Counselors- Assisted families with school-related problems and issues by setting up support meetings and presenting psycho-education to address specific needs- Provided on-going support of students who need further intervention or refer the families to agencies who can assist them in areas of identified counseling needs- Provided group counseling and student support/leadership programs as appropriate, including targeted Small Group Counseling, Peer Mediation, Lunch Bunch, etc - Provided assistance for teachers and communicated with families through SST and 504 meetings- Attended faculty, district, and counselor team meetings - Evaluated the counseling programs annually for student achievement/growth- Maintained appropriate counseling records- Performed obligations mandated by laws or Board policy and other duties related to the position.
