I interpret (English and Spanish) for the district office, which includes school board meetings, superintendent forums, LCAP/District Parent Advisory Committee, expulsions, School Attendance Review Board, parenting classes, and Special Education IEPs (Individualized Education Programs). I use various modes of interpretation including remote simultaneous.I translate all district-level communications, surveys and forms, as well as documents for presentations or meetings such as slides and agendas and publications such as the annual student/parent handbook. I am part of the Communications Dept. team. I provide input and proofread communications in English. I put subtitles and record in Spanish for weekly videos. I manage a district Facebook account in Spanish.I provide support to staff for all language access services. I bring professional development opportunities to the staff for consideration. I lead some workshops for nonbilingual staff and for site interpreter/translators.I coordinate with internal departments and external service providers for languages other than Spanish.

ABOUT DIANE KEMP LÓPEZ

Through my skills, people can communicate seamlessly when they don\'t speak the same language. I have been a translator and interpreter in K-12 for more than 10 years, empowering parents to actively engage in their child´s education. My previous experience is in language teaching and international business. I am a presenter on language access, sharing insights at these conferences: San Diego County Office of Education - Equity, Orange County Department of Ed- Interpreters and Translators, California Association of Bilingual Education and California School Public Relations Association, 20••••25.I also present to students about careers in translation and interpreting and about study abroad.I have a deep interest in dual language education, study/work/travel abroad and international education. In 2024 I was honored to be recognized by the SDCOE Multilingual Education and Global Achievement department for Leadership in Biliteracy for individuals who have made significant contributions in promoting biliteracy for our students.
