The Humanities and Multidisciplinary Librarian provides multifaceted support for teaching, learning, and research in the humanities. They serve as the primary library liaison to students and faculty in departments including English, Film, Drama, Dance, and Religion, and to other departments and multidisciplinary programs as assigned. They provide library instruction and research consultations, create and maintain research guides and other learning resources, and are responsible for collection development in these subject areas. The Librarian will communicate and partner with faculty to ensure that library services support and anticipate evolving needs in teaching and research in the humanities.The Humanities and Multidisciplinary Librarian also plays a critical role in the Libraries\' efforts to support the Colleges First-Year Writing Seminars and collaborates with colleagues in the Libraries and the Writing Center to support writing pedagogies across disciplines.> Serve as a liaison to academic departments and programs through research consultations, instruction in a variety of modes, collection development, and outreach and engagement efforts.> Partner with library and faculty colleagues to support the integration of library and research skills into first-year writing courses.> Support humanistic research across disciplines and collaborate with archivist colleagues to facilitate primary-source research within archives and/or using digital resources.> Review, select, and acquire materials to support the Vassar curriculum, and assist in negotiating contracts for large publisher packages.> Contribute to the Academic Engagement departments programs and services, including providing point-of-need reference service and developing workshops, events, and other programing relevant to the Vassar community.> Participate in broader campus initiatives and in professional development activities.
