ABOUT LAURA GUZMÁN

Through my work, I help smart, values-driven teams make sense of complex trends, strengthen their internal systems, and communicate with clarity. Over the past fourteen years, I have worked across technology, social impact, and organizational strategy. In that time, I\'ve led led global systems and communications for DevGlobal, served as Co-Deputy Director at The Engine Room, and supported various initiatives backed by NASA, the International Federation of the Red Cross, Amnesty International, Ford Foundation, and many others.Earlier in my career, I worked with the Open Society Foundations, exploring how technology can both advance and threaten human rights. Later, as a Clinton Fellow, I joined iMerit in Kolkata, India, helping grow this social enterprise, which used data work to expand economic opportunity. I completed my master\'s at The New School, where I conducted urban development research in Uganda.Across my roles, my driving through-line has been finding ways to build and sustain systems that care for people and the living world we share. I\'ve developed a reputation as a principled leader who remains calm under pressure, pursues a clear vision, and can embrace and cut through complexity in a variety of domains.I\'m currently living in Portland, Oregon, serving on the boards of Humanitarian OpenStreetmap Team and Wonderfolk, a local youth leadership nonprofit. I\'m happiest when knee-deep in a book about post-capitalist futures or backpacking somewhere off-grid with a very dialed snack system.
