ABOUT LAURA ACOSTA-SHERMAN
I started my career in healthcare, trained to heal people. But the more time I spent inside the system, the more I realized how broken the tools were. I saw patients suffer, and clinicians struggled with systems that made their work harder, not easier. I didn’t leave healthcare because I stopped caring. I left because I wanted to fix what was causing the pain behind the scenes. That led me to UX design, and eventually to founding Alyssum Digital, a design studio focused on solving high-stake, high-complexity problems in healthcare. Today, I use design not as visual expression, but as diagnosis. I help organizations identify what’s holding their products, and their users back, and I work with them to create solutions that are clean, clear, and deeply human. Because I still believe in healing systems. I just happen to do it through design.
