ABOUT LANDON L. MCKINNEY

Landon L. McKinney is a licensed Massachusetts attorney and dual-Certified Privacy Professional (CIPP/E, CIPP/US), currently serving as Commercial Counsel and Data Protection Officer (DPO) at Repligen Corporation, a global leader in bioprocessing technologies. In his role, Landon supports a broad range of commercial legal matters and serves as the company’s dedicated privacy expert, helping to shape and implement data protection strategies across the organization. Prior to joining Repligen, Landon earned his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School, where he founded and led the Data Privacy & Cybersecurity Law Association (DPCLA), reflecting his deep commitment to the evolving fields of data protection and emerging technology law.Landon’s legal experience spans corporate, regulatory, and incident response roles across the SaaS, biotech, telecommunications, and healthcare sectors. He has supported in-house legal teams at Sharebite, SOPHiA GENETICS, and Vertex Pharmaceuticals, focusing on commercial contracting, compliance, and SEC cybersecurity disclosure obligations. As a Law Clerk at Mullen Coughlin, he contributed to cyber incident response efforts, including breach notification workflows and legal research. Earlier in his career, Landon worked as a commercial litigation paralegal at Perkins Coie, where he supported privacy and regulatory matters, GDPR/CCPA compliance, and legal operations for major telecom clients. He also gained early exposure to ECPA compliance and disclosure frameworks through roles at HqO, Inc. and Bandwidth Inc. Outside of work, Landon serves as a founding Board Member at Opt-Insire, Inc, a nonprofit focused on digital literacy and safety for vulnerable populations, and as a Junior Board Member with the Surveillance Technology Oversight Project (S.T.O.P.), contributing to initiatives that address government surveillance and civil liberties.
