ABOUT KALEIGH VECA SMITH

Users of any product have goals they are trying to reach, which is the reason they are using the product. I advocate for users\' needs by uncovering insights into their behaviors and developing ways to meet them where they are, creating products that partner with them to reach their goals. In the end, everyone wins—users\' needs are met through tailor-made products that take their goals into consideration, and we win because our products are useful, intuitive, and customer-centered.I approach problems creatively and logically to find the best outcomes, with user research as the guiding light. Prioritizing end users\' needs is the cornerstone of customer-centered product design, and it’s my job to advocate for the customer every step of the way.Currently, I am a User Experience Designer at Radio Systems Corporation (a pet product parent company to PetSafe, Invisible Fence, and Kurgo, among other household names). I work primarily in modeling architecture, mapping user journeys, and working with our engineering team to create, test, and iterate innovative solutions to make pets’ lives better and pet parents’ lives easier.I have a course I developed with Treehouse, linked below, that teaches the basics of UX, why it matters, and how to apply users\' goals to real-world scenarios.(It’s 2 years old, but the foundation—meeting users where they are to help them reach their goals—is still relevant.)
