Hi, I’m Kristy! Currently, I\'m a Mental Health Studies student with a minor in Political Science at the University of Toronto Scarborough, with a mission to be a voice for those who’ve never had one.As a first-generation Canadian, I grew up watching my immigrant parents navigate life in a language and system they didn’t fully understand. I remember feeling scared that if anything ever went wrong—if they needed legal help or had to deal with something official—they wouldn’t know where to turn, and I wouldn’t know how to help. That fear not only stayed with me till today, but also shaped me and my goals.That’s why I want to pursue law: to be the kind of advocate I wish we had growing up. Someone who makes the legal world less intimidating and more human for those who are scared of being in a new environment. Someone who can bridge the gap between communities and systems that often feel out of reach.My path so far has been shaped by a deep interest in how people think, communicate, and connect. I’ve worked in clinical psychology settings, supporting psychological assessments, conducting file reviews, and helping create digital content that makes mental health education more approachable. I’ve also managed social media strategy and execution for the University of Toronto alumni channels, where I partake in developing campaigns, covering live events, building engagement dashboards, and translating big-picture ideas into posts that resonate across platforms. If there’s one thing I’ve learned across all my work experiences, it’s that storytelling and strong communication can make all the difference.Whether in psychology or communications, I’ve learned how to distill complex information, build trust through storytelling, and meet people where they are. What ties it all together is my belief that good communication can create real change. Whether it’s through a post, a policy, or a conversation, I would like to help people feel seen, heard, and empowered.
