ABOUT KRISTA SFERRAZZA

A Master prepared registered nurse and Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator/Canadian Certified Simulation Nurse Educator with interests in clinical nursing education, simulation-based learning, curriculum development and adult education. I have fostered my curiosity and expertise in these areas while being an educator in the Regional Clinical Education department at Vancouver Coastal Health, as a Regional Simulation Educator and Regional Nursing Education Lead. Currently I work as a Leader, Clinical Education in Simulation role at BC Children’s Hospital and Women’s Health Centre. Previously while a graduate student at UBC I worked as a teaching assistant and lab instructor, helping students learn using an experiential learning approach. In addition I was a research and academic assistant for multiple projects within the School of Nursing at the University of British Columbia focusing on clinical nursing education. In addition to my roles in the School of Nursing I honed my facilitation skills as a member of the Graduate Student Facilitator Team with the Center for Teaching, Learning and Technology (CTLT), hosting Instructional Skills Workshops and TA Training workshops. I have presented my research at multiple regional and international conferences.At the bedside I have been a pediatric nurse in a variety of settings, including pediatric medicine and pediatric hospice. I completed my Critical Care Nursing Specialty Certificate through BCIT in June 2021 and currently work on a casual basis in the Intensive Care Unit at Vancouver General Hospital.
