ABOUT KRIS ORTIZO
Hello, this is Kris! I am a highly motivated graduate with an M.Sc. in Molecular Life Sciences from a renowned research university, currently working as a Quality Control Technician in the in vivo team of the Quality Control Department at Bavarian Nordic, a fully integrated biotechnology company focused on vaccine development and manufacturing. I bring over five years of research experience in both academia and industry, with hands-on expertise in a wide range of in vitro techniques—such as molecular (e.g, DNA/RNA extraction and purification, various PCR techniques, agarose gel electrophoresis), biochemical (e.g, enzyme assays, HPLC, LC-MS), and ecological (e.g, field sampling, plant/insect rearing, bioassays) methods. In addition, I possess practical in vivo skill sets, including working with laboratory animals for vaccine testing under regulatory-compliant conditions. This experience has deepened my understanding of biological systems and enhanced my precision and consistency in highly controlled environments. I am detail-oriented, highly organized, and driven to improve existing methods while quickly mastering new ones. I also have experience with computational tools such as R programming, Adobe Photoshop, and ArcGIS, and I thrive both independently and in collaborative settings. Previously, I worked as an Application Specialist in a small biotechnology company in Campus-Buch, Berlin. I am now looking to continue expanding my skill set and contribute meaningfully to the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, organizing my apartment, planning future trips, and exploring the city—whether solo or with friends.
