ABOUT KIM M. METZGER

Kim Metzger serves as the Senior Associate Vice President & Chief Advancement Officer for the University of Florida Health Clinical Enterprise and the six Health Science Colleges—Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Public Health, Pharmacy, Dentistry, and Nursing. In this role, she provides strategic leadership and oversight of a team of 104 employees advancing philanthropy across UF Health. Previously, she was the Associate Vice President for the UF College of Medicine and UF Health more broadly. Prior to UF, she was a leader at Johns Hopkins Medicine for 14 years where she partnered with grateful patients worldwide to establish private philanthropic funding for leading programs. Together with her faculty, in 2012 she led the efforts to secure a $75M transformational gift to establish The Neurosurgery Pain Research Institute—the first of its kind in the world. Having been a key leader during the $6.5B Johns Hopkins Rising to the Challenge Campaign, her greatest passion, however, was raising funds for brain cancer research in memory of Dr. Barry Wessler, Mr. Howard Pastor, and her brother-in-law Ryan Zoschg—all of whom have had a profound impact on her career. Partnering with her long-time mentor, former Chairman Dr. Henry Brem, they created one of the most successful neurosurgical fundraising programs in the country.While at Johns Hopkins, she was often called upon to lead multi-year projects and propose solutions for challenges facing academic medicine today. She chaired the Talent Committee for the FJHM Strategic Plan and co-chaired the Pipeline Development Initiative. In 2014, Kim was selected to represent Johns Hopkins University in the year-long Hopkins & Stanford Leadership-in-Action (LIA) Program—a think-tank group comprised of top four fundraising leaders from each institution representing Stanford, Johns Hopkins, Columbia and Duke Universities. She was also nominated and completed The Johns Hopkins Medicine Dean’s Leadership Program (LDP) the following year.Earlier in her career, she held fundraising and marketing positions with The Harford Day School; The Epilepsy Foundation of Western & Central PA; The Pittsburgh Sr. Golf Classic – Senior PGA TOUR; the Univ. of Miami; and the Univ. of Pittsburgh. She served as chairman of the Board of Directors for DC EDGE Synchronized Skating Teams - U.S. Figure Skating in 2021 and 2022 and served on their board for five years. A 1991 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, Kim earned a B.A. degree in communication rhetoric. She completed her studies in digital design & publications in 1997.
