One Oak Educational Consulting specializes in placing adolescents and young adults in therapeutic schools and programs throughout the country. As a consultant, I routinely visit and assess hundreds of schools and treatment programs in the US and abroad. I visit the best of these programs regularly, work directly with them on individual cases, and assess their quality on an ongoing basis—both personally and as a part of my professional affiliations. My independent status means that I receive no incentives of any kind from programs, keeping my evaluations and referrals objective. I not only match clients to programs, I match clients to people. Within each program are clinicians and counselors with different clinical specialties and different client sweet spots. I make sure that all of my clients have access to the best program for their situation and access to the best people within that program. By keeping my own relationships active with these clinicians through site visits, phone calls, conference attendance, and active case management, I’m able to make a highly personalized match between a client and the professionals on the case. We work with many types of programs and assist parents in determining the most appropriate type of placement (residential treatment, wilderness therapy, therapeutic boarding schools and independent living programs). Our placement services also involve extensive involvement with parents and collaborative professionals from start to finish so that parents always have someone coaching them and advocating for their needs. We are generally involved with our parents for at least a year, depending on the type of placements that are indicated. We also provide our local parents with a monthly parent support group to assist them in staying connected to us and other parents whose children are in a therapeutic program away from home.
