ABOUT KEVIN ADDLEY
I build content businesses that people pay for and take them into new markets and monetisation routes.Over the last fifteen years I have led subscription, audio and digital media businesses at scale, owning full P & Ls and driving growth across acquisition, retention, product and team in markets including the UK, US, APAC and EU. The commercial engine behind that growth has always been marketing: brand strategy, performance, content and data working together. It is where I have the deepest expertise and where I have consistently driven the outcomes that matter: conversion, retention and LTV. A significant part of that has been working closely with creative and editorial teams and understanding what makes content genuinely distinctive, and building the commercial conditions where that distinctiveness finds its audience and pays for itself. My most significant commercial achievement was growing Audible UK from fewer than members to millions, reaching over £225M in annual revenues while delivering record operating income for three consecutive years. I built the UK marketing organisation from two people to over thirty and shifted the business from pure performance marketing into a category-building brand. I led the development of Audible Originals: audiobooks, dramas and podcasts as a proposition differentiator, and expanded into fifteen-plus markets including full launches in Spain, Sweden and Australia, requiring distinct decisions about product readiness, content localisation, business model and operational infrastructure. At Future Plc, as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, I owned P&L and strategy across the company\'s largest content verticals: Technology, Games, Entertainment, Knowledge, Sports, News and Wealth; spanning 600-plus employees and over 100 brands in the UK and US. I drove the transformation of The Week and The Week Junior stabilising a print subscriber base against sustained industry decline and driving the business back to revenue growth, while building a digital subscription layer and an improved direct audience relationship. I repositioned Kiplinger to attract a younger, digitally native US audience and drove increased registrations ahead of the launch of a paid digital subscription experience.I have done this across high-growth scale-ups, an Amazon company and a FTSE 250 business. I am now looking for MD, Country Manager or senior marketing leadership roles in subscription or content businesses, ideally with international ambitions and US growth on the agenda.
