ABOUT KENNETH EDEM BEDDY

At the forefront of Space Medicine, my role as an ESA Biomedical Engineer involves ensuring the health and well-being of ESA astronauts by providing medical operational, engineering, and project support to the Crew Surgeons, the Space Medicine Team (SMT) medical project unit, and other ESA human spaceflight mission preparation, operational processes development and continuous coordination with the different ESA Human Spaceflight Integration and Operations entities and International Partner (NASA, JAXA, CSA & ROSCOSMOS) Communicator and medical teams.As a member of the European Communicator and Medical Support (EUROCOM) Flight Control unit, I facilitate communication between the ESA Flight Controllers on the ground and the crew on-board the International Space Station (ISS), and represent the ESA crew’s interest in the ESA Flight Control team. I maintain awareness of ongoing on-orbit operations and ensure the implementation of the ESA Flight Program. A large portion of the job involves responding to new situations as they arise.As part of the EAC Crew Operations Support (ECOS) team, a major part of my job consists in ensuring the preparation of operations and real time implementation of ESA experiments in the field of life sciences and technology demonstrators for execution by ISS astronauts.My multidisciplinary expertise furthers ESA SMT\'s mission of ensuring the health and well-being of its crew during all the pre,in, and post-flight phases of human spaceflight.
