ABOUT KELSIE SUOKAS

Hello!Hello, I\'m Kelsie! I was born and raised in Ohio, though I have spent most of my adult years abroad. During my undergraduate degree, I had the opportunity to live in Hong Kong, Italy, France, and Israel. Upon completing that degree, I moved to Finland, where I resided for six years before recently relocating to Chicago, Illinois. I am looking forward to the opportunities ahead!I have been working toward becoming a school counselor for the past few years and have loved every moment. I cannot imagine a more meaningful career. I am passionate about helping children thrive and providing positive support. My background gives me a unique perspective because I understand what it is like to experience substantial transitions. I know that it is okay to explore different life paths. I also have become adaptable, open-minded, and curious. I am a life-long learner who enjoys tackling new challenges and finding creative ways to inspire others. As a school counselor and advocate, I work from a place of respect and empathy. I believe that equipping children with social-emotional knowledge is paramount to their success. I have offered individual counseling, classroom guidance, and psycho-educational small groups to individuals from numerous backgrounds and cultures. In my practice, I enjoy using creative interventions and have a hands-on approach to classroom guidance. I am motivated to provide emotional, social, and academic support so my students become productive and resilient adults.
