ABOUT KEITH BUTLER
As a dedicated community leader and youth advocate, I am passionate about creating opportunities that empower people, strengthen neighborhoods, and inspire the next generation. With over a decade of experience in public service and mentorship, I have committed my life to fostering positive change in Detroit, my hometown.In my role as Deputy Manager for District 5 in the City of Detroit Mayor\'s Office, I act as a bridge between the city and the community, serving 58 neighborhoods—the largest district in Detroit. I lead community engagement initiatives, resolve resident concerns, and connect neighborhoods with vital resources. Whether it\'s organizing block clubs, implementing large-scale clean-ups, or co-leading transformative projects like The Henry Ford Hospital’s Future of Health development project, I am focused on making Detroit a city of opportunity for all.Beyond my work in public service, I am the proud Founder of The Detroit Boys Mentoring Club, where we inspire, equip, and guide young Black boys ages 7-17 to realize their potential. Grounded in the pillars of Self-Excellence, Career Readiness, and Community Leadership, our programs cover financial literacy, digital literacy, entrepreneurship, and life skills. We partner with esteemed organizations like Code 313, The Detroit People Mover, Comcast, and NAMIC to offer impactful and engaging programming that shapes future leaders.My journey is deeply personal. It was the tragic loss of my younger brother in 2012 that inspired me to create safe spaces for young boys to thrive. Today, I continue to fight for them—to ensure the streets, prisons, and graves do not claim their futures.I am always seeking opportunities to collaborate with like-minded individuals and organizations who share my vision for community empowerment and youth development.
