ABOUT KAZ JACK

I have worked within various child and family support roles throughout my career which has helped me build skills and knowledge related to areas of trauma, attachment, child protection, CSE and the effects of socio economic issues on families along with the need for support and early intervention. I am passionate about areas of adverse childhood experiences and the effect of attachment especially in relation to care experienced children.I have had various roles within residential childcare including working as a children’s wellbeing practitioner supporting several services within an established and respected residential childcare company and had previous experience as a support mental health worker for care experienced children within the NHS which has furthered my awareness of the effects of trauma and attachment on mental health and the outcomes that can be achieved with relevant support in place. I am DDP level 1 trained, have a HNC in social services and am also a year away from graduating from Open University with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology. I have recognised skills in therapeutic parenting and PACE and have delivered support and coaching to groups working with vulnerable children. I am also skilled in behavioural activation, introducing anxiety management and the Solihull approach. I have gained valuable insight into autism and trauma from lived experiences. My adult son has autism and my daughter experienced cptsd due to chronic health issues and undergoing transplant in 2017. My own childhood experiences are also indicative of my ability to share perspective and empathise with the effect of such experiences on attachment and the importance of nurture and relationships as protective factors. My drive in life is to give vulnerable children a voice and to empower them by helping them to understand that there are people who want to listen. I am excited about my new role as deputy manager of a children’s home and hope to develop positive relationships with the children and team within the home to contribute to a nurturing and supportive environment.
