ABOUT KAYTLIN COSTA

I aspire to be someone who helps others who can\'t help themselves. As a kid, I always stood up for those who were seen as lesser than, or undeserving. Over the years I\'ve been apart of several opportunities and taken on difficult jobs in order to do just that. For over four years I took care of a 15-19-year-old boy with the mentality of a 6-month-old. In high school, I took the initiative to name our new sports hall after our community\'s biggest sports fan, Garrison, a special needs man; the only man in the world with his condition, a form of Pervasive Developmental Disorder.(See Featured Article Below)In college, I joined a program that not only helped prisoners get on the right track but also found them jobs while also learning ASL to help those in need.I am currently part of the Preserve program- the only National online program allowed in prisons to help them better their lives and learn skills that will help them succeed both before and after they are released. I also volunteer with Voices for CASA-Court Appointed Special Advocates. We take the time to get to know and understand a child by spending time with them and listening. We then take that information and make informed recommendations when it comes to a child\'s needs and their permanent home. My goals are to be apart of something that will truly make a difference, even if it\'s just with one person. I hope to get involved with the social work system, helping those in foster care and adoption agencies.
