ABOUT KATIE SEWELL
As a specialist in neurologic physical therapy, I lead the largest therapy residency program at Atrium Health\'s Carolinas Rehabilitation, based in Charlotte, NC. With over a decade of dedicated service, I blend expertise in acquired brain injury, vestibular dysfunction, and neurodegenerative diseases with a robust background in program and curriculum development, quality improvement, and innovative problem-solving. Since October 2020, I have served as the Director of the Atrium Health Neurologic Physical Therapy Residency Program. Under my leadership, we\'ve launched cutting-edge curriculum enhancements and achieved a 100% first-time pass rate for all graduates. I spearhead a Neuro Integration Council, guiding neuro therapy collaboration across the Southeast and Midwest, which magnifies our impact on patient care across regions. In my concurrent role as Clinical Coordinator of Clinical Excellence and Education since May 2023, I\'ve driven significant advances in therapy education and compliance processes. My initiatives have streamlined operations, enhanced patient safety, and fortified compliance across the board.I hold a Doctor of Physical Therapy from Columbia University and am certified as a Neurologic Clinical Specialist. My work is fueled by a passion for advocating for those without access to care, and I am proactive in disseminating evidence-based practices in underserved areas. This commitment not only advances clinical knowledge and patient care but also sets a high standard for therapeutic excellence across the continuum of care.I actively contribute to the broader medical and academic communities through presentations at major conferences. My commitment to professional growth and collaboration is evident as I regularly engage in leading national discussions, enhancing educational standards, and pushing the boundaries of neurologic rehabilitation.
