WORK HISTORY
Marketing Consultant @Ko Consulting
Manchester, GB
I help companies win more business, increase profitability and identify strategies for growth. My clients benefit from the experience and skill set of a Marketing and Sales Director without the cost of a full time hire. Call me jaded and unromantic, but when it comes to marketing, I don’t believe that good things just ‘happen’. Good things come to those who plan, and plan well. Having a proper plan in place means you can work smarter, not harder. And with someone else executing that plan on your behalf, you recoup hours of your working week. That time can then be spent pursuing opportunities that might otherwise have been missed, or focusing on an area of your business that’s perhaps been neglected. I tend to hear “You know, we should’ve got you in months ago” a lot. k•••••••@ko-consulting.co.uk

ABOUT KATHLEEN OCONNOR
Psychotherapist | Marketing Consultant | Co-founder, Eat Well MCR | Founder, Kota TherapyI’m a BACP-registered psychotherapist, marketing consultant and co-founder of charity Eat Well MCR. My work spans mental health and psychotherapy, enterprise and social impact — rooted in a deep belief in care, dignity and collective action. In 2020, I co-founded Eat Well MCR alongside Chef Mary-Ellen McTague and Arts Producer Gemma Saunders, a Manchester-based non-profit that has delivered over chef-made meals to families living in temporary accommodation, women in refuge, schools and food banks across Greater Manchester. What began as an emergency response during the pandemic has grown into a sustained, city-wide effort powered by the hospitality community.Alongside this, I run Kota Therapy, my private psychotherapy practice, working with adults navigating change, ambition, illness and emotional overwhelm. My approach is grounded in Transactional Analysis, and I work particularly well with founders, creatives and professionals at pivotal moments of transition.Kota Therapy Rooms at Pollard Yard in Manchester is thoughtfully designed space available to hire for therapists and coaches looking for flexibility as they develop their private practice.I also continue to operate as a strategic marketing consultant, offering Director-level insight without the cost of a full-time hire. Working with Hello Oriental since year one to grow significantly — scaling from one venue to four in four years — helping shape brand, positioning and commercial strategy during rapid growth. Earlier in my career, I helped scale a forensic IT start-up from zero revenue to £2M turnover, eventually joining the board as Commercial Director. A series of life-changing surgeries during that time reshaped how I think about resilience, leadership and meaningful work — and continue to inform everything I do today.
