ABOUT KATE POISSON
A practicing occupational therapist since April 2021, I\'m passionate about helping people do what they want and need to do as functionally and happily as possible. I started my career in the non-profit sector, providing community-based services to individuals affected by or at risk of homelessness due to serious mental health disorders. I\'m deeply passionate about this population and equitable community solutions to addressing homelessness. Then, I worked in skilled nursing facilities, acute care, and home health care before transitioning to my current setting, acute/inpatient rehab, where I\'ve developed a special interest in stroke recovery.I became a Certified-Aging-In-Place Specialist (CAPS) in spring 2023 to be more adept at aiding people across the lifespan in modifying their living spaces and provisioning appropriate assistive devices so they can remain in their homes.
