Hello! I\'m Karla Atanacio, a dedicated policy and program professional, vibrant community organizer, and insightful media presenter from Winnipeg, Manitoba. My journey as a 1.5 generation Filipino-Canadian immigrant has shaped my passion for preserving and promoting Philippine culture, while my roles in various community and national organizations reflect my commitment to inclusivity and diversity, especially among youth. As Chair of Pinoys on Parliament, I spearhead Canada\'s largest Filipino-Canadian youth leadership conference, bringing together over 250 delegates for an enriching mix of panels, workshops, and cultural showcases. My involvement as Youth Director at the Manitoba Filipino Business Council highlights my ability to foster networks among young entrepreneurs, evidenced by successful events and media coverage. In my professional capacity with the Government of Manitoba, I tackle a range of policy issues, applying insights gained from experiences like the National Philippine Parliamentary Internship Program. My tenure as Chair of the Young Liberals of Canada-Manitoba and contributions to student advocacy through the Canadian Federation of Students-Manitoba demonstrate my effective leadership and campaign skills. My writing spans opinion pieces in notable publications and co-hosting roles in media projects, where I discuss diverse topics from a unique Filipino-Canadian perspective. These efforts complement my academic pursuits in International Development Studies and Public Policy at The University of Winnipeg, where I\'m also engaged in ethical research in the fashion industry. My work ethic and impact have been recognized through numerous awards and scholarships, including The Premier\'s Healthy Living Award for Youth and United Way\'s Youth Leaders in Action Scholarship. With over five years of experience in government, politics, and non-profit sectors, I am known for my ability to engage stakeholders, pitch innovative ideas, and turn them into action. Fluent in English and Filipino, with intermediate Spanish proficiency, I am well-equipped to navigate diverse cultural and professional landscapes.
