ABOUT KAROLINA SHAW
An empathetic, conscientious leader who thrives on developing relationships and delivering innovative ideas. With 26+ years in the Communications/Public Relations industry, I have built and led strategic communications campaigns at UK, EMEA and Global level for high-tech and corporate superbrands including IBM, Lenovo, Coca-Cola, Nestlé, Ocean Spray, Cisco, Dell/EMC and Oracle, challenger non-profits like Mozilla, and homegrown brands with exciting stories to tell like 1E. Along the way I have navigated complex, high-stakes environments — steering campaigns through leadership changes, business transformation projects, and office moves, working fluidly across culture and timezones. Interests that dovetail into my day-to-day include language, linguistics and culture, psychology, yoga and spinning as well as live music and the theatre. Being a carer outside of work, has helped me develop a particular depth of resilience and the ability to prioritise under pressure; qualities I bring directly into how I lead. A London-born Brit with dual UK/EU nationality, I flourish in international environments and have experience of living and working across Europe and the United States, alongside a sound knowledge of four European languages aside from my native English. Having weathered the dot.com bubble burst, the financial crisis of \'08, the Covid19 pandemic, and many macro-economic shifts and technological developments besides from a communications perspective, I am energised by what comes next: the evolving role of Communications in an automated, high-velocity world where trust, authenticity and speed have never mattered more feels essential and motivating.
