ABOUT KARLA CHOU

As a Return to Work Co-ordinator, I have worked in self insurance, the private sector as well as with the insurance agents to assist the injured worker to achieve an early and sustainable return to work, whether from Work Injury Claims or Non-work related injury claims. I have rolled out Safety, Prevention and Well-being initiatives to create consistency on a national level and reduce risk in the business, ultimately gaining experience in Human Resources, Employee Relations, WHS, Training and Development, Project Management and more. I have built relationships with providers and worked collaboratively with procurement to get the best service or product to suit the needs of the organisation I work for. As a Case Manager with the Worker’s Compensation agents in SA, I managed a portfolio of a wide range of claims for corporate and small employers including psychological and complex injuries. I would work hard to assist employers to minimise their claims cost, educate them to understand the RTW Act and the importance of providing suitable employment, acting with a sense of urgency, going above and beyond every step of the way. I would tailor my approach to connect with the injured worker, getting the best outcome for both parties. Being on both sides of the claim I understand the goals of the agent and the employer and what is important to them. I have over 20 years of experience in customer service, 10 years in Retail Sales and Management and 15 years in the insurance industry, gaining a wealth of knowledge and a wide range of experience. This enables me to be confident in handling any challenges that I face with passion gained only through my own unique experience. I am passionate about what I do and I have a strong work ethic, I’m honest, trustworthy and straightforward. I enjoy persuading and influencing others and am motivated by opportunities to take initiative and strive for continuous improvement.
