Current duties involve:• Managing a team CAD Co-ordinators• Developing our company BIM Strategy to ensure we exceed Level 2 compliance • Keeping on top of the latest technologies and software relevant to our industry• Ensuring a consistent quality of work throughout all projects• Creation of Drawing programmes using Asta Powerproject and ensuring we meet Project milestones• Liaising with the Design team / Main contractor and attending site meetings• Turning 2D Design Team drawings into fully co-ordinated 3D Models using AutoCAD Fabrication / Revit MEP• Production of Installation & Fabrication drawings from the 3D Model• Production of As-Installed DrawingsI recently did some sub-contract work c/o Vaughan Engineering for a large Pharmaceutical company to assist their Process Engineers in coming up with a full 3D Model of 2no. 3 storey Fume Cupboards including all internal plant, pipework and connections to existing services. This involved:• Modelling up the internal space using a mixture of As-Installed drawings and site measurements• Developing a 3D model of the new fume cupboards and support frames based on existing fume cupboards• Modelling all plant items to a high degree of accuracy and visualisation• Creating new pipework services for use within AutoCAD Fabrication, for example specialised Glassware.• Turning 2D Process schematics into 3D Pipe & Plant drawings• Creating 2D drawings from the model for procurement and installation• Liaising with the structural engineers in coming up with a support arrangement for the Reactor that fit within the Fume Cupboard frame

I manage a team of CAD Co-ordinators to ensure that Projects are delivered on time and to programme whilst maintaining a high standard of quality and ensuring consistency is maintained throughout the life of the project.I specialize in large complex projects, building up 3D models of the building and structural steelwork using 2D design team drawings before utilizing Autocad Fabrication / Revit MEP to place all the M&E services within the allocated space.We then take this 3D model and using Autocad Navisworks Manage further tweak the design to ensure zero clashes, ease of installation and end user maintainability. All production drawings from site service installation drawings, support details and off site fabrication drawings are then produced from the completed model.I have completed a part-time 12wk BIM module within a post graduate programme at Ulster University to further develop my understanding of and the implementation of BIM within Vaughan Engineering. This involves the switchover from AutoCAD based technologies to utilising Revit/BIM on all future projects as well as developing new in-house co-ordination processes to facilitate the additional information required on BIM projects.
