ABOUT KALLEEN ROSE OZANIC

I\'m a freelance journalist-photographer-content creator embarking on a professional journey to maximize command of communications and media skills in fields touching the journalism industry.As an adroit reporter and investigator, I\'ve covered a wide variety of beats and topics including city government, education, cannabis, health, business, courts, crime, and social services. My reporting spans local and regional markets and I\'ve been published in WSHU, New England Public Media,CT Mirror, Connecticut Public Radio, Maine Public Radio, Vermont Public Radio, CT Insider and its statewide affiliates. I parse through complex policy to find human stories with impact, and deliver “news you can use” to readers.My photographic prowess shines in candid,\'in media res\' moments, evidenced by my cuts featured A1, above-the-fold; as Hearst Connecticut Media Group file photos; and appearing in my own award-winning work. When not shooting photos for stories, I also use my skills to bolster social media content for accounts I manage. As a photographer for hire, I relish in bringing joy to my clients and capturing their loved ones and special moments. I excel in portraiture of pets and people, alike, and have shot multiple surprise engagements, headshots and graduation photos.I graduated from Quinnipiac University, with a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, while studying Political Science and Spanish. I have a strong interest local issues-and localizing broad issues to a community through intersectional lenses that bring awareness to oft-forgotten or unseen perspectives. My writing, communication and editing skills inform and engage the public. I am a strong leader, communicator, and journalist-forging productive relationships with my superiors and peers. I strive to be a trusted, credible, and relied-upon voice in my community and industry.
