ABOUT KALANITHI KANAPATHY-BAGLEY

I am the Founder and Executive Director of Discovery Chess Learning Academy, a nonprofit organization established in 2007 with a mission to empower youth and communities through chess, education, and character development.Through innovative programs, partnerships, and volunteer-driven initiatives, Discovery Chess Learning Academy uses chess as a powerful tool to build critical thinking, leadership, discipline, emotional resilience, and life skills. Our work spans schools, community programs, tournaments, and correctional education initiatives, including collaborations with the Ohio Department of Youth Services to bring chess instruction into juvenile correctional facilities.I am also the founder of Chess for Cure, an initiative dedicated to promoting female participation in chess while raising awareness and support for women’s health causes, in collaboration with leading medical institutions such as the Cleveland Clinic.My passion lies in creating inclusive opportunities—regardless of background, gender, or circumstance—where individuals can grow intellectually, emotionally, and socially. I believe chess is more than a game; it is a lifelong learning tool that builds confidence, purpose, and community.I am always open to collaboration with educators, nonprofits, sponsors, volunteers, and community leaders who share a commitment to meaningful impact.
