ABOUT DEWAIN BARBER
I am a retired educator and former owner of American Chess Equipment, a company that sells to schools, clubs, organizations and individuals. I was in the chess business for over 29 years and was a major wholesale supplier of chess products. My present goal is to lend support to scholastic chess through my continuing work with the GM Arnold Denker Tournament of High School State Champions (denkerchess.com), the IM Ruth Haring Tournament of Girls Champions (nationalgirlschess.com), the Rockefeller Tournament of Elementary K-5 State Champions (uschess.org/rockefeller) and my sponsorship of the Dewain Barber Tournament of Middle School 6-8 State Champions (barberchess.com). All four are approved National Invitational Chess events sponsored by the US Chess Federation, the US Chess Trust, and the Internet Chess Club (ICC). Specialties: Organizing chess events at all levels.
