I am a senior Go developer within the Bigfoot team. I work with my colleagues to define the specification for new features for our core product. I pair program with other developers to take features from specification to production. Our core product is a Go based offering hosted in Kubernetes which makes use of Kubernetes Operators and an HTTP api to communicate with a React single page application front end.

I am a senior Go developer with 7+ years\' experience of the language. I have authored an open source Go library for configuring services (https://github.com/driscollos/config) and have worked extensively with concurrency in Go and multi process services.I have a long history of creating microservices. I have extensive experience with event driven architecture using AWS SQS / SNS and GCP Pub/Sub topics and subscriptions. I have considerable knowledge of CI/CD through the use of Github Actions, Jenkins and other orchestration platforms. I have created microservices which communicate via HTTP and json, and also Protobuf and even gRPC.I have created services deployed with containerisation to Kubernetes and to serverless environments such as GCP Cloud Run and AWS Lambda.In terms of databases I have an extensive background with relational databases (MySQL, Postgres) including complex queries written by hand which merge tables with millions of rows. I also have NoSQL experience particularly with Redis and GCP Firestore. I recognise the need for NoSQL for non relational data storage and the benefits of relational databases for particular use cases.I have a strong background in Linux and have administered a whole topology of colocated servers in the past, using the Xen hypervisor and deploying services including Apache, Nginx, Postfix, Dovecot, MySQL and others.
