ABOUT JOSHUA SMITH

I am a solicitor specialising in the management and resolution of disputes. I am founder and Head of the Media Law and Reputation Management Team. I have vast dispute management and resolution experience (before and after Court Proceedings have been started), having dealt with numerous types of cases, often with complex factual, legal, and expert issues in dispute. Areas of experience include:*Defamation, Malicious Falsehood, Harassment, Privacy and Confidence, and related actions. Social/General Media Law. The nature of my work requires me to act and respond quickly, dealing with matters such as seeking and opposing Injunctive Relief at short notice.My approach is to avoid formal Legal Proceedings where possible, but if they prove necessary, to vigorously pursue them, with the aim of achieving a desired settlement for clients. Whilst this isn’t always possible, I have experience in dealing with matters to Trial, including into Appeal, and Enforcement. I have experience of dealing with a wide range of Alternative Dispute Resolution methods. I am well known for my robust style, attention to detail, service-led, and outcome-focused approach to my work. I have experience of acting for clients who are not based in the UK. I have experience of assisting clients whose first language is not English - my style of clear communication makes this possible. I have experience of working with Interpreters and Translators in Court Proceedings to ensure compliance with procedural rules.
