In collaboration with Nurse Manager, support administrative, human resource, and financial management for the 11th floor PCU which includes 120 staff (RN/CCP) caring for patients under IMU, Tele and Med Surg levels of care. Ensure areas of responsibility comply with requirements of planning, regulatory, inspecting agencies, and UCSDHP (e.g, Medicare Conditions of Participation, Department of Health Services, and Joint Commission). Coordinate with the Nurse Manager and Advanced Practice Specialist to develop, implement, and maintain department-specific performance improvement and patient safety program including annual skills day training for RN and CCP unit staff. Participate in strategic planning process and align departmental/unit goals and objectives with the mission, vision, and values of the organization.Collaborated to create a charge nurse training program- managing patient flow, staffing levels and budget. Created a comprehensive Assistant Nurse Manager onboarding program for the Hospital Inpatient Medicine Services (HIMS) division which led to organizational roll out. Lean Six Sigma- Green Belt: Just culture algorithm adoption. Reduced the time for nurse leaders to determine the proper path to take as a result of staff member errors by 87%. Impact analysis also identified risk avoidance by way of objective and fair decision making.

ABOUT JOSHUA VILLAGRANA
I am a dedicated and experienced patient-focused professional with a great passion for nursing and desire to lead my team in providing excellent patient-centered care. I am currently the Assistant Nurse Manager for the 36 bed Surgical/ Stroke Progressive Care Unit at UC San Diego Health’s Hillcrest Medical Center. I previously worked at the bedside on the same unit as well as with Mission Healthcare as a Triage Hospice Nurse providing end of life crisis care to a diverse Patient population. I also worked at UC San Diego Health Lewis Internal Medicine as a Senior Licensed Vocational Nurse from 2013 to 2019 and was an Emergency Trauma Technician for over 1 year at the UC San Diego Level 1 Trauma Center and Surgical Intensive Care Unit prior to that. I am adjunct clinical faculty at the University of San Diego and am bilingual in English and Spanish.
