ABOUT JOSH NOVICK
Josh Novick has been in education for over a decade, most known for his counseling experience at alternative high schools in Chicago\'s North Lawndale and Garfield Park neighborhoods and for his leadership efforts following the Highland Park Fourth of July Shooting. Josh began his career as a social studies educator at an alternative high school operating within Malcolm X College. While working in this role, Josh was immediately confronted with the impact of trauma, specifically gun violence trauma, on BIPOC teenagers. This began Josh\'s journey to understand and limit the effects of trauma on young people. Josh graduated from Northeastern Illinois University with a Master of Arts in School Counseling. Josh was awarded The Illinois Senate Award for his leadership in the Highland Park Fourth of July Shooting in 2022 for organizing over 600 therapists in a 5 day volunteer operation. Josh continues to combine his knowledge, experience, and leadership skills to work with several organizations for mental health and safety in the North Shore, Cook County, and Lake County.
