ABOUT JOSH LOWE

Growing up, football was everything—playing, watching, and supporting West Ham United and my local team, Chelmsford City. While I knew early on I wouldn’t make it as a player, I found my calling in sports journalism and media. Before breaking into the industry, I worked two non-media jobs—cleaning classrooms at my secondary school, Chelmer Valley High School and working late nights in the Price Integrity team at Morrisons. While not career goals, both roles helped me build essential skills in time management, communication, and teamwork. My media journey began in August 2022 when I volunteered at Chelmsford City FC. I quickly became the “N’Golo Kanté” of the media team—helping wherever needed, from filming matchdays to writing match reports. Just over a year in, I was promoted to Head of Media. Initially, I filmed games and contributed occasional reports. My early lack of a laptop slowed me down, but after receiving one for Christmas, I wrote my first full reports—including derby ties against Braintree. I also began running live Twitter coverage, juggling reporting and updates in real time. In the summer of 2023, I conducted my first post-match interview—with Freddie Hockey. Nerves aside, it was a turning point. Soon after, I stepped up as Head of Media following my predecessor’s departure. I left Morrisons and committed fully to the role. Since then, I’ve led on all aspects of media output—uploading match footage, editing highlights, publishing interviews, managing social media, and recruiting new team members. I also began live TV commentary and introduced a new highlights package that’s been incredibly well received. In summer 2024, I led the club’s transfer communications—producing all related content. And in the 2024–25 season, I proudly worked on all 54 matches, home and away. It was my third season at the club and my proudest yet—proof that passion, commitment, and taking chances can open doors.
