As President of the Board of Directors for Keiki On The Rocks, I have the honor of stewarding a mission dedicated to expanding access to experiential learning for Hawaiʻi’s youth. This 501(c)(3) nonprofit removes financial and logistical barriers to meaningful field-trip opportunities, empowering educators to teach beyond the classroom and students to learn through curiosity, connection, and experience.What I value most about this role is the people. We are intentional about bringing the right individuals together, and I am deeply grateful to serve alongside a board and staff that reflect excellence in both skillset and character. The diversity of expertise, perspectives, and lived experience strengthens our governance and sharpens our impact, while shared values of integrity, humility, and service shape a healthy and collaborative culture.In this role, I provide leadership and strategic direction to the board, ensuring strong governance, fiduciary responsibility, and long-term sustainability. I partner closely with board members, staff, and community stakeholders to align vision with execution, so our work remains focused, accountable, and grounded in the needs of Hawaiʻi’s schools and communities.I also champion partnerships with local businesses, cultural institutions, and community organizations to broaden equitable access to immersive learning experiences across the state.Drawing from my work as a leadership speaker and executive coach, I prioritize healthy leadership practices at the board level, emphasizing clarity of purpose, shared responsibility, development of emerging leaders, and systems that support sustainability rather than burnout.I am proud to serve Keiki On The Rocks in this capacity and grateful for the team that makes this work possible. When children are given the space, support, and exposure to explore, learning comes alive and the possibilities truly are endless.
